Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KO’s) and Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) will be fighting at the beautiful MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 3rd. Until today it the venue was up on the air between the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. At the end of the day, Mayweather selected Las Vegas.
This is the ideal venue for a fight like this because it’s a beautiful city, and the fans tht flow into the city will be able to enjoy themselves to the fullest while they’re there. Mayweather will save millions in tax money by having the fight take place in Nevada rather than New York. Nevada doesn’t have a state tax, and that’s why it’s such a great place for boxing events.
This is Mayweather’s big opportunity to avenge the loss for his little brother Adrien Broner by beating Maidana the way that Broner should have done last December in their fight at the Alamodome, in San Antonio, Texas. Mayweather will show his little brother how to do the job on Maidana, and that in turn will make it much easier for Broner to beat Maidana in their eventual rematch at some point in the future, if the two of them still end up facing each other.
Once Mayweather takes Maidana’s WBA welterweight title there really won’t be much of a need for Broner to fight Maidana again other than for the simple sake of revenge. Broner won’t need to fight Maidana after Mayweather gets through with him.
Maidana has the power to make this as interesting fight on May 3rd, but the lack of speed and slow footwork is going to hurt him against Mayweather. The only way that Maidana will have a chance to land his big shots if Mayweather chooses to stand in the pocket and give Maidana a chance like he did in his fight with Miguel Cotto. Mayweather took it easy on Cotto for the first 8 rounds by fighting his fight, but from the 9th round on, Mayweather boxed Cotto and made him look bad.Mayweather vs Maidana
